2025 Simmental Bull Sale Season Wrap-Up – A Strong Year for the Breed in New Zealand
The 2025 Simmental bull sale season has wrapped up with fantastic record breaking results across the country, reflecting the strength, quality, and growing confidence in the breed. From the far north to the deep south, Simmental studs saw great support from loyal clients and enthusiastic new buyers, with full clearances and strong averages being a common theme.
Most studs were well up on their averages this year which is great to see, with the top bull in NZ selling for $42,000.
While a strong beef market is contributing to the results, a key driver is the growing number of commercial sheep and beef farmers incorporating terminal sires to capitalise on hybrid vigour. Many are seeing real gains to their bottom line by running terminal herds alongside their traditional maternal systems.
Beefit Simmentals led the season with an impressive day with 40 of 40 bulls sold and an average price of $5,100. Another outstanding year for the whole team.
Glenanthony Simmentals led the season was next with 20 of 21 bulls sold, averaging $7,950 with strong local support and a great community spirit behind the event, standing behind their quality stock on offer.
Opawa Simmental wrapped up their sale with 28 of 28 sold at a $9,930 average and a top price of $22,000. With three stud transfers and strong interest from both returning and new clients, it was another successful year for their team.
Gold Creek Simmentals followed next with a standout average of $11,675 and all 29 bulls sold. Their top-priced bull fetched $26,000 and five bulls were snapped up by stud breeders – a real testament to their breeding programme and loyal following. Special thanks were extended to Beefit Ltd and the dedicated network who helped make the day such a success.
Kerrah Simmentals celebrated their 10th on-farm sale in style, selling all 81 bulls offered, achieving an impressive $12,098 average and eight stud transfers. The top lot sold for $24,000 to Overland Simmentals. A huge turnout and strong support proved the high regard Kerrah holds within the industry.
Leafland Simmentals achieved one of the most talked-about prices of the season – $42,000 for Lot 3, sold to Gold Creek Simmentals. Their average was a healthy $9,022, with 22 of 25 bulls sold and several standout stud purchases.
Beresford Simmental also sold 12 of 15, averaging $7,800 and achieving a top price of $14,000. A fantastic overall result with a great turn out on the day.
Hill Valley Simmentals enjoyed a successful sale day in Teviot, achieving an average price of $8,600. The team extends their sincere thanks to all clients for their continued support and wishes them well with their new bulls.

Potawa Simmentals enjoyed a full clearance (21/21) with an average of $8,275 and two bulls going to stud, with an impressive top priced bull selling for $11,000.
