Simmental NZ has TWO ELITE HEIFERS TO GIVE AWAY this year. The Simmental studs donating the heifers welcome your involvement with their stud and will run your heifer and her progeny for you if you don’t own or have access to grazing. The Simmental Cattle breed is one of the premiere breeds of the world and arguable one of the most flexible and popular. It is used as a Terminal Breed ( all the progeny are slaughtered), as a Maternal Breed ( the female progeny are kept as replacements ) and some parts of the world are used in the Dairy industry. This is an opportunity not to be missed. If you would like an entry form or require more details please contact Alastair at Simmental NZ:

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR SIMMENTAL NEW ZEALAND’S STUD STARTA PROGRAMME

SIMMENTAL NEW ZEALAND(SNZ) AND HEIFER
DONOR’S RESPONSIBILITIES

Heifer Donors are prepared to run the heifer and her progeny for a period of 3 years from May 30th each year if the recipient hasn’t got grazing.

This allows potential recipients to apply whose parents aren’t farming. After 3 years it is by mutual agreement between the two parties as to whether the grazing arrangement continues but the responsibility of the Donor and SNZ ceases.

Donor studs are prepared to involve the recipient in the Stud and their farm as much as practical. This is to encourage you, the recipient, to continue in the seed stock industry and make a career in farming.

If the stud was sold or deregistered within the 3 years for some reason SNZ would do its best to place the concerned cattle with another grazier but would not be responsible for doing so.

If any animal from your new stud are sold from the graziers property, eg first calf was a bull and sold (either for breeding or to the works) then the grazier can retain $500 to offset costs. NB the original heifer can’t be sold.

A list of heifer donors and recipients will go on the website. A maximum of two heifers will be offered in any one year. SNZ will keep in touch with recipients .
