Background - Commenced breeding in 1992 with purchases from Ailsa G.R. and Wai-Iti Studs.
- Intensive farming operation.
- Farmed at altitude, 2000ft. -10 degree frosts common and numerous snow falls.
- Best show successes include Champion 2 year old female at Royal Easter Show, Champion Simmental Bull at Beef Expo 2008 with Ruaview Scotch.
- Annual Sale held on our property (Waimarino Combined Breeders) for past 15 years.
- John is currently a Simmental Councillor and a qualified Beef Class Assessor. Stud Focus - The entire focus is on QUALITY, to breed bulls for Stud and commercial breeders to enhance the profitability of their operation.
- EMPHASIS is placed on Docility, Structural Soundness, Calving Ease and moderate EBV’S across all traits.
- Carcass qualities and ease of fleshing is paramount.
- Only the females that can display and produce the above criteria are retained in the herd.
Number of Cows 40- 45 cows calved annually with a high standard of all round quality. Number of Sires used Numerous sires have been used through AI. The main sires that have left a high standard of cattle are: Glen Anthony SGT Pepper, Moneymore Kiwi Kid, Woonallee Hadau, and now Ruaview Scotch. Size and contour of farm 300 acres mainly flat of volcanic loam soils. Other Stock in farming operation Rearing 4 day old Friesian calves as replacements for our bull beef operation. Commencement of Angus Stud recently, to be run along the same performance criteria as the Simmental Stud. Natural or AI mating Natural and AI Photos  Ruaview Scotch at the Easter Royal Show - Auckland 2009.
